This study sought to determine the journey motif in Bienvenido Santos 'novel entitled The man Who (Though He) Looked Like Robert Taylor and its implication to Christians. The study is qualitative, using the descriptive-analyticc design. It is deemed to find out what the journey undertaken by the character of the story is all about. The archetypal approach, the socio-cultural approach, and the humanistic approach to literature were utilized to embody and analyze the journey motif in the novel. The following summary of findings is presented: 1.From the Philippines, the protagonist of the novel. Solomon King Arrived in Chicago,traveled to other places in the United States, and finally traveled back to settle in Chicago. In short, he went around in a circle. 2. The journey motif is manifested in the novel through the elements of plot, charaters, setting, imagery and theme. 2a. The plot of the novel was organized around the journey motif. aside his physical journey, Sol was engaged in a lot of imaginary travels to fabulous vacation spots, and when his doctor prescribed a terminal vacation from his job, his primary concern shifted to preparations for his final journey. 2b. The choice of characters, aside from the protagonist, also enhances the journey motif. Sol's friends and the people he met were all strangers and expats like himself. 2c. The place settings were likewise carefully chosen to reflect the journey motif. The present action settings include places like Honore Street, Greyhound Bus Depot, Rest Area, and Nursing Home. The past action or flashback settings include Sulucan, funeral parlor, San Francisco warehouse, Alipio Palma's San Francisco house. The imaginary or dream setting are vacation spots and a confused blending of Philippine and American places. 2d. The imagery involves elements such the road or street, vehicles, suitcases, pictures of places, travle agencies and brochures, address books and telephone directories, roadmaps, and a catalogue of places that extends beyond the bounderies of the.
