General Note500 _aDissertations (Doctor of Philosophy in Education) - Adventist University of the Philippines, Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, 2023.
Summary Note520 _aLifelong learning (LLL) has gained much attention recently and is increasingly recognized as an essential factor for individual and organizational success. Using a quantitative research design, 1 this study explored the mediating role of psychological capital on the influence of leader power and supervisory practices on lifelong learning among the Adventist basic education principals/assistant principals in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division of Seventh-day Adventists. Results revealed that the participants perceived the leaders legitimacy and expertise as relatively high. All types of leader power (legitimate, referent, and expert) positively and significantly (p=.001) correlate with lifelong learning. Similarly, all supervisory practices positively correlate (p=.001) with lifelong learning. Psychological capital (hope, optimism, resilience, and self-efficacy) positively correlates (p=.001) with lifelong learning. It partially mediates (Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model) the relationship between leader power, supervisory practices, and lifelong learning. To effectively manage an institution, the principal must possess leadership skills and supervisory practices and have the psychological attributes to engage in lifelong learning actively. By understanding the factors influencing LLL, principals can create a continuous learning culture that benefits the basic educational institutions in SSD.
