General Note500 _aTheses (Master of Arts in Psychology) - Adventist University of the Philippines, Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, 2023.
Summary Note520 _aThough there are studies about the relationship between perfectionism and self-compassion, as well as academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination, there has been a lack of studies regarding the relationship between these four variables in the Philippines. This research investigated how perfectionism; and self-compassion relate to academic procrastination as well as the mediating effect of academic self-efficacy on this relationship. Using the quantitative-correlational method of research and convenience sampling technique, the researcher surveyed 250 Filipino high school and college students in Luzon. Pearson Product Moment Correlation found that self-oriented perfectionism and academic self-efficacy are negatively correlated to academic procrastination. Self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness, which are sub-variables of self-compassion, are negatively correlated. Moreover, mediation analysis found that academic self-efficacy fully mediates the relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination. It has partial mediation between self-compassion and academic procrastination. Academic self-efficacy and common humanity are significant predictors of academic procrastination.
