General Note500 _aBaby Thesis (ABTheology) - Adventist University of the Philippines, Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, 2022.
Summary Note520 _aThe parable of the talents in the Gospel according to Matthew is one of Jesus's Parables in His last discourse . Jesus gave this parable in the context of His future Parousia and the judgement of Jerusalem. The final judgement teaching tackled in this parable is the decisive event in believers' life. Since, according to Rev 20:12, the final judgement will be done according to believers 'works, it is necessary to study the implications of the arable of the talents to the salvation and works. The historical Biblical method of exegesis is the methodology adopted in this study. The exegetical analysis of the parable of the talents in the Gospel according to Matthew is the focus of the study. Servants' rewards from the master are according to their performances: they will be recognized by their fruits. Even though salvation is given freely to believers through Jesus's sacrifice, believers' work are evidence of who is save or not. Works as an external expression of inner beliefs, and convictions are expected for each believer's life experience. Even if it is possible to be deceived by the profound motive of someone's works, their importance in the identity of Christ's disciple is not doubted. A study on Jesus's role as the judge and the master through the parable of the talents should illuminate believers.
