Summary Note520 _aGod introduces himself in Isaiah 45:7 as " The one who formed light and create darkness, the one who brings peace and create evil." If God is ultimately good, how can he create evil? If he trying to imply something about himself ? This text often understood in its literal formed and used in philosophical arguments where concepts about God's goodness are argued about instead of studying the implication of verse through the course of events in the old testament " I create evil" To provide clarity on he passage through the historical - biblical method of exegesis. Based on the historical background of Isaiah 45, God is placing Cyrus into power to aid in restoring his people and revealing himself to Cyrus as the only one true God who is capable of establishing his kingdom and overthrowing Babylon. The measure of Isaiah 45:7 was personally intended for Cyrus. The word ra, "evil" does not always means moral evil it used also to established other evils such as an evil that is a consequence of itself, natural disasters, unpleasant circumstances or catastrophes. Understanding the Hebrew poetry and the word used as an opposite of the word "evil" which peace, it refers to its direct opposite meaning, namely, catastrophe, finally, the theological implication of monotheism could be proves by the study of Hebrew poetry and how it could effect the understanding of the intention of Yahweh to make known that beside Him, There is no other God.
